​Academic and Cultural Synergy: UGM’s PSPSR and Ullen Sentalu Museum Explore the Legacy of R.M. Jodjana

The Graduate Program in Performing Arts and Visual Arts Studies (PSPSR) at Universitas Gadjah Mada has strengthened its collaborative network with cultural institutions through a “Talk and Performance” event titled “R.M. Jodjana; Embodied Culture in Motion: Presence as Cultural Ambassadorship.” The event was held in a hybrid format, centered at the Ullen Sentalu Museum on Wednesday, April 29, 2026.

Dr. Sri Margana, M.Hum., M.Phil., the Head of the Doctoral Program in Performing Arts and Visual Arts Studies at UGM, participated as a featured speaker. In his presentation, he provided an in-depth analysis of Raden Mas Jodjana’s life and career. The discussion covered the legendary dancer and artist’s biographical background and his pivotal role in bringing the essence of traditional arts to the international stage, particularly during his career in Europe. read more

In commemoration of World Dance Day, the Graduate Program in Performing Arts and Visual Arts Studies (PSPSR) at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), in collaboration with Ullen Sentalu Museum, organized an event titled “Talk and Performance: R.M. Jodjana; Embodied Culture in Motion: Presence as Cultural Ambassadorship.”

The event took place on Wednesday 29 April 2026 at 09:00 AM WIB at the Ullen Sentalu Museum, Kaliurang. It was conducted in a hybrid format, integrating on-site attendance with virtual participation via Zoom to engage a wider audience. read more

The Harmony of Arts and Academia in the UGM Postgraduate Graduation Farewell

During the postgraduate graduation farewell ceremony, a dance performance by students from the Doctoral Program in Performing Arts and Visual Arts Studies (PSPSR) captivated the audience.

The Dana Deno dance, performed with deep artistic expression, reflected the depth of artistic exploration that characterizes PSPSR students. The highlight of the performance occurred when the Head of the PSPSR Master’s Program, Dr. Rr. Paramitha Dyah Fitriasari, M.A., and a PSPSR doctoral graduate, Heni Siswantari, spontaneously joined the stage. read more

The Spirit of Togetherness: Celebrating PSPSR UGM Postgraduate Graduation

On Wednesday, April 22, 2026, Universitas Gadjah Mada held a graduation ceremony for its postgraduate program graduates. Five students from the Master’s Program in Performing Arts and Visual Arts Studies (PSPSR)—Rika Amalia Putri, Titisari Teresa Rahayu, Arien Aninda Nur Rahma, Juanda M. Arvis, and Sindhu Lintang Ismoyo—were among those celebrating their academic achievements.

The graduation proceedings commenced in the morning with the university-level ceremony at Grha Sabha Pramana (GSP). Following this, the event continued with a faculty-level graduation farewell and celebratory gathering at 01:00 PM, held in the Auditorium on the 5th floor of the UGM Graduate School. read more

Disability Service Training: Disability Awareness to Realize an Inclusive Campus

The Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada, in collaboration with the UGM Disability Service Unit (ULD), organized a disability service training session titled “Disability Awareness to Realize an Inclusive Campus.” This activity was conducted as an effort to improve the understanding and capacity of the academic community in creating an inclusive, equal, and welcoming campus environment for all. This training is also part of the Graduate School’s commitment to promoting more accessible and equitable educational services for persons with disabilities. read more

Politics at Play: Visiting Lecture by Dr. Sadiah Boonstra at PSPSR UGM

Performing Arts and Visual Arts Studies (PSPSR) Doctoral Program at Universitas Gadjah Mada held a guest lecture series titled “History and Memory Making Through Arts and Performance”. The event took place on April 6–7, 2026, at Meeting Room A of the Graduate School Building and Room 407 UGM, featuring Dr. Sadiah Boonstra as the keynote speaker. Dr. Boonstra, a Research Fellow at UGM and Honorary Fellow at Melbourne University, presented crucial material on “Politics at Play: Indonesian Wayang and Heritage Politics”. read more

Performing Arts and Visual Arts Studies (PSPSR) Doctoral Program, in collaboration with the Department of History, Universitas Gadjah Mada, held an opening lecture featuring history expert Dr. Sadiah Boonstra on Monday, April 6, 2026. Hosted in Meeting Room A, 5th Floor of the UGM Graduate School Building, the event addressed the crucial topic of “History and Memory Making Through Arts and Performance.”

The session, which took place from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM WIB, served as the opening of an intensive series of classes scheduled over the next five days; the program includes two days at the UGM Graduate School and three days at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB) UGM. In this class, Dr. Sadiah Boonstra, a Research Fellow at UGM and Honorary Fellow at Melbourne University, shared profound perspectives on the intersections of history, memory, and heritage. read more

PSPSR Master’s Program Conducts Student Progress Monitoring

The Master’s Program in Performing Arts and Visual Arts Studies (PSPSR) at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) held a Study Progress Monitoring session for active students on Tuesday (March 31, 2026). The session, which began at 13:00 WIB, was conducted online via Zoom and was mandatory for students from the odd semester of 2022, 2023, and 2024.

​The monitoring session was led directly by the Head of the PSPSR Master’s Program, Dr. Rr. Paramitha Dyah Fitriasari, S.Ant., M.Hum. In her remarks, she emphasized the importance of regular academic progress tracking to ensure that every student completes their studies according to the designated timeline. read more

The Head of the PSPSR Master’s and Doctoral Programs and Task Force of PSPSR Participate in OBA Simaster Workshop

The Head of the PSPSR Master’s (S2) and Doctoral (S3) Programs, along with the academic administrators of PSPSR, participated in the OBA Simaster System training. The event took place on Thursday, March 5, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The event was held offline in the Auditorium Room on the 5th floor of Building Unit 1, Graduate School (SPs) UGM.

The training was opened by the Vice Dean for Academic, Student Affairs, and Cooperation, Prof. Dr. Ir. Widyanto Dwi Nugroho, S.Hut., M.Agr. The training participants were all heads of study programs and academic administrators of master’s and doctoral programs at the UGM Graduate School. read more

The Master’s (S2) and Doctoral (S3) Programs of PSPSR participated in the Curriculum Review and Enhancement Workshop held on Friday, 20 February 2026, at 08:30 WIB. The event was conducted on site at the 5th Floor Auditorium of the Graduate School (SPs), Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM).

The workshop was led by the Dean of the Graduate School UGM, Prof. Ir. Siti Malkhamah, M.Sc., Ph.D., and continued by the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Cooperation, Prof. Dr. Ir. Widyanto Dwi Nugroho, S.Hut., M.Agr. The event was attended by academic management representatives as well as the heads of master’s and doctoral study programs within the Graduate School UGM. read more
