During the postgraduate graduation farewell ceremony, a dance performance by students from the Doctoral Program in Performing Arts and Visual Arts Studies (PSPSR) captivated the audience.
The Dana Deno dance, performed with deep artistic expression, reflected the depth of artistic exploration that characterizes PSPSR students. The highlight of the performance occurred when the Head of the PSPSR Master’s Program, Dr. Rr. Paramitha Dyah Fitriasari, M.A., and a PSPSR doctoral graduate, Heni Siswantari, spontaneously joined the stage.
The participation of both the Head of the Program and the doctoral graduate was not only a visually stunning display but also a symbol of the solidarity and close-knit relationship between faculty and students within the PSPSR community. This collaborative performance reflected a spirit of kinship that remains strong even after formal studies have concluded.
This performance served as both a sweet and symbolic conclusion for the graduates. Art is no longer viewed merely as an object of study, but as a language of communication that celebrates academic achievement and the internal bond among the university community at the UGM Graduate School. Furthermore, this performance serves as a tangible manifestation of the commitment to supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which align with:
- SDG 4 (Quality Education), represents higher education that pursues not only cognitive aspects but also prioritizes creativity, empathy, and transformative dialogue spaces across different levels of education.
- SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), demonstrates a robust partnership between educators, researchers, and art practitioners in creating a mutually supportive scholarly ecosystem for the sustainability of Indonesia’s cultural future. (NA)
