Krisna Tama, one of the Master’s students from the Performing Arts and Visual Arts Studies Program at Universitas Gadjah Mada, presented his research at the 5th Faculty of Education Annual Conference. Hosted by Universitas Islam Internasional Indonesia (UIII) on April 1–2, 2026, the conference carried the theme “Transforming Education for Future Generations: Advancing Global Justice and Innovation.”

The conference was a prestigious international gathering that attracted academic interest from across the globe. According to the Dean of the Faculty of Education at UIII, the committee received 129 abstracts and 17 full papers from seven countries, including Afghanistan, Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Romania, Singapore, and the United States. After a rigorous blind peer-review process, 62 final papers from Australia, Indonesia, and Malaysia were selected for presentation. The conference also featured world-class keynote speakers from renowned institutions, including Union College (USA), the University of Edinburgh (UK), the Research Institute on Contemporary Southeast Asia (Thailand), and the Indonesian Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology. read more

Yogyakarta, March 31, 2026—Graduate students from the Master’s Program in Performing Arts and Visual Arts Studies (PSPSR), Universitas Gadjah Mada, together with Prof. M. Dwi Marianto, as the lecturer, conducted a field study at Cemeti Institute for Art and Society. The activity aimed to unpack the discourse of an exhibition curated by Mira Asriningtyas and Dito Yuwono, which takes the iconic narrative of “Keluarga Cemara” as a point of departure for socio-political critique. During this field session, students engaged directly with the works of Nindityo Adipurnomo and Agung Kurniawan, which explore the ambiguity of the concept of family within the context of contemporary Indonesia. read more

The Master’s Program in Performing Arts and Visual Arts Studies (PSPSR) at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) held a Study Progress Monitoring session for active students on Tuesday (March 31, 2026). The session, which began at 13:00 WIB, was conducted online via Zoom and was mandatory for students from the odd semester of 2022, 2023, and 2024.

​The monitoring session was led directly by the Head of the PSPSR Master’s Program, Dr. Rr. Paramitha Dyah Fitriasari, S.Ant., M.Hum. In her remarks, she emphasized the importance of regular academic progress tracking to ensure that every student completes their studies according to the designated timeline. read more

A master’s student from the Performing Arts and Visual Arts Studies Program (PSPSR), Universitas Gadjah Mada, Rio Ananta Prima, participated in an international exhibition organized by the Japanese Society of Botanical Artists (JSBA) at the Kochi Prefectural Makino Botanical Garden in Japan. Held from 14 March to 24 May 2026, the exhibition titled “The Resonance of Botanical Art: Japanese and Indonesian Botanical Artists” highlights an artistic dialogue between botanical artists from Japan and Indonesia through plant illustration works that integrate scientific accuracy with aesthetic approaches. read more

Yogyakarta, March 10, 2026 — The exhibition “Kisah dari Lemah Dadi” is not simply a passive display of artifacts. This exhibition clearly affirms its status as an In Memoriam. This exhibition is dedicated to the passing of Lucia Hartini (August 2025) and Zaenal Arifin (January 2026). The artworks here serve to replace the physical absence of the artists. The curators attempted to frame this exhibition as an existential resolution. Although in the real world, the lives of these two artists ‘crossed,’ the art institution (Bentara Budaya) attempts to reconcile these two realities. The exhibition space, in this case, acts as a medium that can unite two different perspectives. This curatorial approach offers a classic concept of existential dualism: the artist’s body is subject to the mortal laws of nature, ‘all creatures will return to the earth,’ but their essence, captured in their surrealist works, is elevated to infinity, ‘fragrant and eternal.’ read more

The Head of the PSPSR Master’s (S2) and Doctoral (S3) Programs, along with the academic administrators of PSPSR, participated in the OBA Simaster System training. The event took place on Thursday, March 5, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The event was held offline in the Auditorium Room on the 5th floor of Building Unit 1, Graduate School (SPs) UGM.

The training was opened by the Vice Dean for Academic, Student Affairs, and Cooperation, Prof. Dr. Ir. Widyanto Dwi Nugroho, S.Hut., M.Agr. The training participants were all heads of study programs and academic administrators of master’s and doctoral programs at the UGM Graduate School. read more

PSPSR Study Program at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) organized an Art and Religion Study Forum combined with an iftar gathering on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at 15:30 (WIB). The event took place in Room 407, 4th Floor, Graduate School Building, UGM, and was exclusively held for the PSPSR academic community.

The session was moderated by I Made Christian Wiranata Rediana and opened with remarks from the Head of the PSPSR Master’s Program, Dr. Rr. Paramitha Dyah Fitriasari, S.Ant., M.Hum. On this occasion, I Made Andi Arsana, Ph.D., who is often referred to as Bli Andi, attended as the keynote speaker. read more

The Master’s (S2) and Doctoral (S3) Programs of PSPSR participated in the Curriculum Review and Enhancement Workshop held on Friday, 20 February 2026, at 08:30 WIB. The event was conducted on site at the 5th Floor Auditorium of the Graduate School (SPs), Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM).

The workshop was led by the Dean of the Graduate School UGM, Prof. Ir. Siti Malkhamah, M.Sc., Ph.D., and continued by the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Cooperation, Prof. Dr. Ir. Widyanto Dwi Nugroho, S.Hut., M.Agr. The event was attended by academic management representatives as well as the heads of master’s and doctoral study programs within the Graduate School UGM. read more

Sleman, February, 10 2026, Ullen Sentalu Museum, in collaboration with the Kedhaton Museum of the Yogyakarta Palace, The British Museum, and PSPSR UGM, hosted International Museum Forum, centered on the theme “Heritagisation of Museum Collections”. Held from 09:30 to 12:00 WIB, this bilingual event served as a strategic platform for international experts to discuss the future of cultural preservation.

​The theme of Heritagisation aims to make museum artifacts and objects ‘breathe alive’. This process transcends static exhibitions, involving in-depth research, re-interpretation, performing arts, and comprehensive proceedings documentation. read more

The event, which took place on Monday, February 9, 2026, served as an official welcome momentum for new Master’s (S2) and Doctoral (S3) students, hosted by the Head of the Master’s Program, Dr. Rr. Paramitha Dyah F., S.Ant., M.Hum., and the Head of the Doctoral Program, Dr. Sri Margana, M.Hum., M.Phil. Located in Meeting Room A, UGM Graduate School Building, this activity was designed as an orientation bridge for students to adapt to the campus atmosphere while understanding applicable academic procedures. read more
