Yogyakarta, 21 July 2026 — Dr. Sri Margana, M.Hum., M.Phil., Head of the Doctoral Study Program in Performing Arts and Visual Arts Studies (PSPSR), Graduate School, Universitas Gadjah Mada, was a speaker at the event book launch & cultural discussion “Peluncuran Buku & Diskusi Budaya, Ambarrukmo: Jatidiri dan Kebanggaan Negeri”. Dr. Sri Margana is not only a speaker, but he and PSPSR alum Dr. Mikke Susanto, S.Sn., M.A., also wrote the book. Ambarrukmo and Royal Ambarrukmo Yogyakarta teamed up with Mojok to put on this event. The book launch and cultural discussion were held at the Pendopo Agung Ambarrukmo, which is located at Jl. Laksda Adisucipto, Ambarukmo, Caturtunggal, Depok District, Sleman Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta.
Dr. Sri Margana said that this book is the second edition, and the topic was previously covered in the first edition in 2012. This book is a must-have for anyone interested in the history of Ambarrukmo, as it’ll give you the lowdown on the evolution of the complex over the years. The Ambarrukmo Hotel is a big deal for the people of Yogyakarta and all of Indonesia. The Ambarrukmo Hotel was founded and funded by Japanese war reparations, and the idea came from President Ir. Soekarno is one of six hotels in Indonesia.
Ayu Rianna was the moderator, and the event’s theme was “Caring for the Nation’s Collective Memory”. Maya Dewi, the Director of Sales & Marketing at Royal Ambarrukmo, was there, and there were MCs and special stand-up acts, Alit Jabang Bayi and Pandu Dunia. A select group of invited guests were there, and the event had a warm atmosphere.
