Yogyakarta, Friday, 12 June 2026 – The Performing Arts and Visual Arts Studies Program, Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada, held a knowledge sharing event with Assoc. Prof. Dr. M. Fazli Taib Bin Saearani as the resource person. The event, titled “Sound, Body, and Movement Response“, took place from 15:00 to 16:30 WIB. The event was held online via Zoom Meeting.
During the course of the discussion, Assoc. Prof. Dr. M. Fazli Taib Bin Saearani proposed the theory of a tripartite interconnectedness between sound, body and response. The concept of sound in dance is interpreted by the body. The initial perception of auditory stimuli is facilitated by the sense of hearing. Even long before the advent of music, sound played a pivotal role in human activity. Music has been identified as a form of organizing sound.
Furthermore, Assoc. Prof. Dr. M. Fazli Taib Bin Saearani also expressed the opinion that sound is an individual response; in other words, each individual can have a different response even when hearing the same sound. The discussion, entitled “sharing knowledge,” concluded with a sharing of experiences between the speakers and several audience members.
This discussion on sound, body, and movement responses directly supports the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), Sharing knowledge demonstrates the study program’s commitment to the advancement of science. (IH)
