The Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada, in collaboration with the UGM Disability Service Unit (ULD), organized a disability service training session titled “Disability Awareness to Realize an Inclusive Campus.” This activity was conducted as an effort to improve the understanding and capacity of the academic community in creating an inclusive, equal, and welcoming campus environment for all. This training is also part of the Graduate School’s commitment to promoting more accessible and equitable educational services for persons with disabilities.
The Collaborative Thesis Coaching Session (CTCS) continued into its second day on Saturday, April 18, 2026, held at the Boko Meeting Room, Grand Diamond Hotel Yogyakarta. From 09:00 to 15:00 WIB, master’s students of the PSPSR UGM program received intensive guidance from their respective supervisors. The session focused on providing comprehensive direction regarding methodological challenges, theoretical framework construction, and analytical precision in the students’ thesis drafts.
To accommodate all students, the CTCS was conducted using a hybrid approach. Some students attended in-person to discuss their work directly with supervisors, while others participated in online coaching sessions via Zoom and Google Meet. Following the intensive coaching, students were encouraged to continue working independently to implement the feedback and guidance received.
The Master’s Program in Performing Arts and Visual Arts Studies (PSPSR) at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) held a Collaborative Thesis Coaching Session (CTCS) from April 17 to 19, 2026. Located at the Grand Diamond Hotel Yogyakarta, this intensive event was attended by 14 PSPSR UGM master’s students who are currently in the critical stages of writing and finalizing their theses.
The event was officially opened by the Head of the PSPSR UGM Study Program, Dr. Rr. Paramitha Dyah Fitriasari, M.Hum. In her opening remarks, she emphasized the importance of structured guidance in maintaining motivation and ensuring the timely completion of students’ studies. She expressed her hope that this event would assist students in completing their theses more effectively and efficiently, thereby enabling them to graduate on time.
Bantul, April 7, 2026—Master’s students of the Performing Arts and Visual Arts Studies (PSPSR) program, accompanied by Prof. M. Dwi Marianto, conducted a field visit to Dedy Sufriadi’s studio in Bantul, opening a landscape of understanding that transcends mere aesthetic observation of the canvas. This space functions not only as a “visual archive” and an Art Brut laboratory where text is deconstructed but also sociologically operates as a locus of struggle for the agent within the competitive field of contemporary art. The conversations within revealed structural realities regarding how an artist reads the field, positions themselves, and survives.
Performing Arts and Visual Arts Studies (PSPSR) Doctoral Program at Universitas Gadjah Mada held a guest lecture series titled “History and Memory Making Through Arts and Performance”. The event took place on April 6–7, 2026, at Meeting Room A of the Graduate School Building and Room 407 UGM, featuring Dr. Sadiah Boonstra as the keynote speaker. Dr. Boonstra, a Research Fellow at UGM and Honorary Fellow at Melbourne University, presented crucial material on “Politics at Play: Indonesian Wayang and Heritage Politics”.

Hosted in Meeting Room A, 5th Floor of the UGM Graduate School Building, the event addressed the crucial topic of “History and Memory Making Through Arts and Performance.”
The session, which took place from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM WIB, served as the opening of an intensive series of classes scheduled over the next five days; the program includes two days at the UGM Graduate School and three days at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB) UGM. In this class, Dr. Sadiah Boonstra, a Research Fellow at UGM and Honorary Fellow at Melbourne University, shared profound perspectives on the intersections of history, memory, and heritage.
Krisna Tama, one of the Master’s students from the Performing Arts and Visual Arts Studies Program at Universitas Gadjah Mada, presented his research at the 5th Faculty of Education Annual Conference. Hosted by Universitas Islam Internasional Indonesia (UIII) on April 1–2, 2026, the conference carried the theme “Transforming Education for Future Generations: Advancing Global Justice and Innovation.”
The conference was a prestigious international gathering that attracted academic interest from across the globe. According to the Dean of the Faculty of Education at UIII, the committee received 129 abstracts and 17 full papers from seven countries, including Afghanistan, Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Romania, Singapore, and the United States. After a rigorous blind peer-review process, 62 final papers from Australia, Indonesia, and Malaysia were selected for presentation. The conference also featured world-class keynote speakers from renowned institutions, including Union College (USA), the University of Edinburgh (UK), the Research Institute on Contemporary Southeast Asia (Thailand), and the Indonesian Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology.
Yogyakarta, March 31, 2026—Graduate students from the Master’s Program in Performing Arts and Visual Arts Studies (PSPSR), Universitas Gadjah Mada, together with Prof. M. Dwi Marianto, as the lecturer, conducted a field study at Cemeti Institute for Art and Society. The activity aimed to unpack the discourse of an exhibition curated by Mira Asriningtyas and Dito Yuwono, which takes the iconic narrative of “Keluarga Cemara” as a point of departure for socio-political critique. During this field session, students engaged directly with the works of Nindityo Adipurnomo and Agung Kurniawan, which explore the ambiguity of the concept of family within the context of contemporary Indonesia.
The Master’s Program in Performing Arts and Visual Arts Studies (PSPSR) at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) held a Study Progress Monitoring session for active students on Tuesday (March 31, 2026). The session, which began at 13:00 WIB, was conducted online via Zoom and was mandatory for students from the odd semester of 2022, 2023, and 2024.
The monitoring session was led directly by the Head of the PSPSR Master’s Program, Dr. Rr. Paramitha Dyah Fitriasari, S.Ant., M.Hum. In her remarks, she emphasized the importance of regular academic progress tracking to ensure that every student completes their studies according to the designated timeline.
A master’s student from the Performing Arts and Visual Arts Studies Program (PSPSR), Universitas Gadjah Mada, Rio Ananta Prima, participated in an international exhibition organized by the Japanese Society of Botanical Artists (JSBA) at the Kochi Prefectural Makino Botanical Garden in Japan. Held from 14 March to 24 May 2026, the exhibition titled “The Resonance of Botanical Art: Japanese and Indonesian Botanical Artists” highlights an artistic dialogue between botanical artists from Japan and Indonesia through plant illustration works that integrate scientific accuracy with aesthetic approaches.
