Logandeng, October 18, 2025 — Isradina Paricha, a student from the Master’s Program in Performing Art and Visual Arts Studies (PSPSR) at Universitas Gadjah Mada, participated as the Program Coordinator for Pawon Hajat Khasiat: Dapur Penuh Rasa Solidaritas (A Kitchen Brimming with the Spirit of Solidarity). This activity constituted one of the main programs of the Yogyakarta Cultural Festival (FKY) 2025, held in Logandeng, Playen, Gunungkidul, from October 11–18, 2025. Isradina, alongside Fajar Riyanto as the Programmer, managed an open kitchen that engaged groups of mothers from Logandeng Village, the local youth organization (karang taruna), Women Farmers’ Groups (KWT), and local communities with an interest in food and cultural issues.
SDG 5: Gender Equality
On Thursday, September 19, 2024, in the leadership meeting room on the 2nd floor of the UGM Graduate School, PSPSR UGM students had the opportunity to meet with Hilmar Farid, M.A. Ph.D., the Director General of Culture for the 2015-2024 period. The event was led by Dr. GR. Lono Lastoro Simatupang, M.A., and accompanied by Dr. Rr. Paramitha Dyah Fitriasari, M.Hum., Head of the PSPSR UGM Master’s Program, and featured a lively dialogue between PSPSR students and Hilmar Farid. The discussions on that day focused on the importance of a broad understanding of culture for cultural practitioners, particularly PSPSR UGM students, whose studies are deeply connected with cultural practices. Several students also raised questions about persistent cultural issues in society, including conflicts related to local cultural heritage rights and the preservation of cultural advancement objects. Hilmar Farid emphasized the government’s crucial role in recognizing cultural dynamics in society and the challenge of providing fair space for diverse community cultures.
The participants enthusiastically engaged in this sharing session. The topics discussed in this dialogue align with SDG no. 4 (Quality Education), 5 (Gender Equality), and 17 (Partnerships for the goals). (AU)
Agim Gunawan, a student from the Performing Arts and Visual Arts Studies Program at the Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), has been selected as one of the participants in the 2024 Cultural Advancement Residency Program. This program is initiated by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology through the Directorate of Cultural Personnel and Institutions Development.
The residency involves cultural practitioners from various countries such as the United States, Australia, the Netherlands, Brunei Darussalam, Ecuador, the Philippines, India, Italy, Canada, Colombia, Malaysia, Mexico, Egypt, Poland, Thailand, Greece, and Jordan, who will collaborate with national cultural practitioners from Indonesia. There are three locations for this program focusing on Cultural Advancement Objects (OPK), namely the traditional sport Jemparingan in Yogyakarta, Losari Mask Dance in Cirebon, West Java, and Pantun Musicalization and Oral Tradition in Pekanbaru, Riau.
