The South Sulawesi Language Center, in collaboration with the South Sulawesi and West Sulawesi Language Ambassador Association, organized the 2024 South Sulawesi and West Sulawesi Provincial Language Ambassador Selection on June 7, 2024, at the Melia Makassar Hotel. Before reaching the final selection, the 24 finalists underwent a lengthy selection process. Starting from March 2024, all participants went through an administrative phase that resulted in 50 candidates for the South Sulawesi and West Sulawesi Provincial Language Ambassador.
In the top 50 phase, all candidates underwent the Krida presentation stage. Krida is a crucial point in the South Sulawesi and West Sulawesi Provincial Language Ambassador selection, as it is hoped that the ideas or concepts presented in Krida by each participant can be implemented and advance the Indonesian language. Additionally, the candidates also went through the “Dubas Voice” stage, a question-and-answer session covering five themes: culture, education, environment, language, and psychology.
After these stages, the top 24 finalists, consisting of 12 men and 12 women, were selected. These top 24 finalists went through several stages such as online internships, offline internships, Krida implementation, training, quarantine, and the grand final.
The quarantine stage took place from June 5 to 8, 2024, at the Melia Makassar Hotel. During the quarantine, all finalists faced assessment stages such as interviews on language, psychology, the Language Center, and the Ikadubas (South Sulawesi and West Sulawesi Provincial Language Ambassador Association). Participants also presented the results of their group Krida implementation, took the UKBI (Indonesian Language Proficiency Test), showcased their talents, and participated in Leaderless Group Discussions.
On the grand final night, the top four male and female finalists faced a live question-and-answer session with the judges. The final results were then announced as follows:
