The Master’s Program in Performing Arts and Visual Arts Studies (PSPSR) has once again organized the Gladhi Nalar activity, which this time took place in Bandung. The journey from Yogyakarta to Bandung was made by train on Saturday, October 29, 2024, departing from Tugu Station in Yogyakarta at 10:29 PM and arriving at Bandung Station at 5:23 AM.

On the first day in Bandung (October 30, 2024), a total of 21 Master’s and Doctoral students visited Selasar Sunaryo Art Space and NuArt Sculpture Park. At Selasar Sunaryo Art Space, the students, accompanied by Dr. Rr. Paramitha Dyah Fitriasari, M.Hum. (Head of the Master’s Program PSPSR), Dr. G.R. Lono Lastoro Simatupang, M.A. (Quality Assurance Coordinator of the Master’s Program PSPSR), and Niken Salindri, M.A. (Academic Staff of PSPSR), were received by Heru Hikayat, the curator of Selasar Sunaryo Art Space, who explained aspects of managing the art space. At the end of the visit, the PSPSR students had the opportunity to have a dialogue with Mr. Sunaryo, the founder of Selasar Sunaryo Art Space. At NuArt Sculpture Park, the students were guided through the gallery, and by the end of the visit, they had a sharing session with sculptor Mr. Nyoman Nuarta, the founder of NuArt Sculpture Park.

On the second day (October 31, 2024), Gladhi Nalar continued with a joint seminar involving the academic community at the ISBI Bandung graduate school. In this session, two students from PSPSR UGM (Agim Gunawan and Heni Siswantari) and two students from ISBI Bandung (Giman Budi Susanto and Bambang Supriyanto) presented their ongoing studies, which were then discussed with the participants and faculty representatives from both PSPSR UGM and ISBI Bandung. After activities at ISBI Bandung, the group attended a theater performance by Studiklub Teater Bandung at the Rumentang Siang Building. In the evening, students had the chance to interact and connect with the ethnic music group Sambasunda, led by Dr. Ismet Ruchimat, S.Sen., M.Hum., and colleagues.

On the third day (November 1, 2024), the Gladhi Nalar agenda continued with a visit to Parahyangan Catholic University (UNPAR), specifically the Integrated Art program in the Faculty of Philosophy. There, a scientific discussion took place in the form of a public lecture by Prof. Dr. Ignatius Bambang Sugiharto on the topic of art and post-human conditions. The academic discussion was lively, reflecting the enthusiasm of both PSPSR UGM students and UNPAR Integrated Art students in responding to Prof. Bambang’s lecture.

Finally, the students and accompanying team concluded the Gladhi Nalar visit, departing from Bandung Station at 7:00 PM and arriving back in Yogyakarta at Tugu Station the next day at 2:15 AM. This Gladhi Nalar event is one of the flagship activities of PSPSR UGM, in line with the objectives of SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnership for the Goals). (AU)
