The Grha Sabha Pramana Building at Universitas Gadjah Mada once again witnessed the success of hundreds of students who have completed their studies. In a graduation ceremony held on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, a total of 991 graduates from various study programs received their master’s and doctoral degrees.
One of the study programs that contributed to the success of this graduation was the Performing Arts and Visual Arts Studies (PSPSR) Program. A number of PSPSR students successfully obtained their master’s degrees with interesting theses relevant to the development of contemporary art. They are Aulia Pramesti Rizki Utami (Tami Aulia) with her thesis exploring the creative space of cover musicians on social media, Nurul Fajri Kusumaningrum who researched the commodification of nostalgia in popular music, Arung Hutari Dea Premita who evaluated theatrical performances as social criticism, and Zanet Arief who analyzed the role of choir coaches.
Not only at the master’s level, PSPSR also contributed students at the doctoral level. Rudy Wiratama successfully completed his dissertation discussing the form and function of characters in wayang gedhog.
The success of the PSPSR graduates demonstrates the high quality of education and the relevance of this study program to the development of the world of art and culture, as well as its contribution to achieving SDG 4, quality education. Their theses not only enrich the body of knowledge but also make a real contribution to the development of art in Indonesia.
The Rector of Universitas Gadjah Mada, Prof. dr. Ova Emilia, M.Med.Ed., Sp.OG(K)., Ph.D., in her speech, congratulated all the graduates. She hopes that the graduates can continue to develop their potential and make positive contributions to society.” (AU)
