On Friday, May 31, 2024, the Performing Arts and Visual Arts Studies (PSPSR) program at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) successfully held its Scientific Writing Series #2. This event was a continuation of the first series held on Friday, May 3, 2024. The event began at 8:30 AM, featuring Prof. Nurdiana Gaus, S.S., PGDIP., Ph.D. as the speaker, and took place in Room 203, Unit II of the UGM Graduate School. Approximately 30 master’s students from PSPSR UGM attended the session.
The event commenced with an opening speech by the Head of the PSPSR program, Dr. Rr. Paramitha Dyah Fitriasari, M.Hum. The primary focus of the session was to introduce PSPSR UGM master’s students to academic journals and guide them on how to write scientific journals correctly. Prof. Nurdiana Gaus, S.S., PGDIP., Ph.D. extensively discussed the introduction section of a scientific journal. The introduction is deemed crucial because a well-crafted introduction facilitates the writing of subsequent sections up to the conclusion. A well-written introduction also helps readers to understand the content and the author’s thought process.
Prof. Nurdiana Gaus, S.S., PGDIP., Ph.D. also provided tips on how to structure a scientific journal article to get accepted in international journals indexed by Scopus. The event lasted for two hours, with the final hour dedicated to discussions. At the end of the session, Prof. Nurdiana Gaus, S.S., PGDIP., Ph.D. encouraged students not to hesitate or fear submitting their scientific articles to international journals. She emphasized that being rejected from international journals is not a bad thing; it offers valuable learning opportunities through feedback from reviewers and editors.
PSPSR UGM Study Program realize that this activity is related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) number 4 by promoting academic excellence and innovation, thereby contributing to global knowledge exchange and development. (IH)
